The complex of anti-tick-borne events begins with the preparation of the territory. Mowing grass, removing last year’s leaves and litter. There should be no piles of rubbish and swamped places on the site. If it is necessary to process a small area, the perimeter makes a barrier of gravel or sawdust, not less than a meter wide. The
choice of the drug takes into account its possible toxicity, harm to the environment, presence of animals and fish, proximity of bodies of water. Many drugs are toxic to humans, cats and other animals, so it is better to use pyrethroids (plant-based drugs). DDT used earlier can accumulate in the soil, kill not only ticks, but also beneficial insects, can cause mass poisoning of birds.
Work should be carried out immediately after snow, before ticks start activity. Particular attention is paid to grass along paths and alleys, places near active recreation of people and children. Some aerosols are forbidden to be used closer than 500 meters from underground and surface water bodies so that components of the means do not get into the urban water intake.
Spraying with poisonous chemicals is carried out in strict accordance with the instructions, using aerosol generators of cold and hot fog. All work should be carried out by epidemiologists of the accredited organization.
Before starting work it is necessary to warn all possible visitors to the cultivated area, and it is better to close it at least for a day. For three weeks after processing, it is not possible to collect berries and mushrooms along the paths, to walk animals.
