How our team prepares for the 2014 Sochi Olympiad

To rectify the situation, the leadership of our Olympic Committee has taken a number of measures. Since 2011, members of the Olympic and para-Olympic teams have been assigned scholarships in size of 32 thousand rubles monthly. Many training bases and rehabilitation centers were again put into operation, sponsors were attracted, foreign specialists were invited. The Canadian experience is actively studied, thanks to which the hosts of the previous Olympics achieved excellent results.

Yet the results of recent competitions in some sports are not pleasing. For example, the 2010/2011 season in biathlon is hard to call otherwise than failure. And this despite attracting as a sponsor one of the richest people of Russia M. Prokhorova and invitation to work with the women’s national team of a coach with a world name — V. Pichler. As noted by many media, “… in the team there is no change of generations, there is no proper preparation and good psychological atmosphere, and monetary abundance and successful outside of sports managers to correct the situation not can.”

The situation of our skiers and skiers is more optimistic. Of the 12 sets of awards to be played in Sochi, Russians can claim 4 gold medals.

In bobsleigh competitions, hopes are tied with our illustrious pair: A. Voevoda — A. Zubkov.

In toboggan sport Russia has a good chance of several medals. To improve the work on general physical and starting training in the national team invited the famous German specialist M. Halebranta.

In ski jumping, alas, the chances of awards now do not have to talk about. As the top two jumpers were out of action: one was killed in a car crash and the other was severely injured. The results of other “flying skiers” will scarcely allow them to get close to the group of the strongest.

You can count on medals in figure skating, ice hockey, short track, speed skating competitions. There’s still time.
