You will need
- – the subway scheme of St. Petersburg;
- – the schedule of trains from Moscow Station of St. Petersburg to Volkhovstroy.
Getting to Otradny is easiest by train. Of course, looking into the timetable of electric trains that hangs in Moscow railway station, the name “Otradnoye” will not be found. But there are stations Pella and Ivanovskaya. That’s where you need it. To make it easier to look for the desired train, see that part of the schedule where train trains on Volkhovstroy, Nevdubstroy or Budogoshch are marked.
If your excursion route includes not only Otradnoye, but several settlements located on the territory of the legendary “Nevsky” Piglet”, you can first see the sights in Schlisselburg, getting from Finland Station to Petrofortress Station and moving to the other bank, and from there by bus №440 to pass in Otradnoye. In this area you will find very many military memorials. Such a route will be particularly interesting for lovers of military and extreme tourism.
For those who prefer a bus, you will need to get to Rybatskoe subway station. It is on the green line, almost at the very end of it. From there to Otradny there are several buses and share taxis. You are suitable for such routes as №440, 440A, 682. Bus number 440 goes further, to Kirovsk and Schlisselburg. Quite often before the number of the St. Petersburg bus you can see the letter “K”. This means that the route is commercial, that is, the bus travel benefits are not valid.
It happens that it is more convenient to reach Otradny not from St. Petersburg, but from Kolpino or Tosno stations. For example, if you are traveling from Moscow and decide not to stop by in St. Petersburg. In Kolpino you can take buses no.483 or 483e. From the railway station in Tosno towards Otradny there is bus №687.
There is another locality with the same name in Leningrad Oblast. It is found in Priozersky District. Priozerskoye Otradnoye is a popular meeting place for tourist groups going on water hikes on the Karelian Isthmus. Nearby are magnificent lakes. In addition, many lovers of quiet hunting come here in autumn – there are a lot of mushrooms and berries in these regions. You can get to it by train from Finland Station, train going to Priozersk or Kuznechnoye (which, however, also go through Priozersk).
