Determine which tool you will be more comfortable to knit: crochet or spokes. Remember that excessive thickness of spokes and threads may not allow you to create the desired pattern. Choose a suitable knitting scheme. Think of what color you want to tie plaid. Be patient and careful to make the finished canvas look equally good on both sides, missing skews or tightens.
Select the type of plaid. It can be quite airy and gentle to cover the toddler at home, as well as suitable for wrapping or baptising. It is possible to tie a warm and dense plaid suitable as a cape or bedding in a stroller.
Start choosing the fabric for knitting. If you plan to make a plaid in the form of a light cape, cotton will be the most successful choice. The flow rate will depend on the thickness of the yarn, as well as the pattern (if you plan to make a cape with complex, relief patterns, such as pigtails or cones, you need to prepare more material). To preserve the pristine appearance of the plaid, do not wash it in hot water. Try to knit with a small margin, for example, 105 by 105 cm.
Try using for knitting angora with acrylic. It is a soft, warm and airy fabric that lies in viscous easily and beautifully. It can be used for plaid during the cold and cool seasons, especially if you’re worried that a newborn toddler will be mortified outside. The flow rate can be determined by tying the sample 10 by 10 cm first, then calculating the amount of tissue for the entire plaid. Knit it it better in two threads.
