Pharmacological properties of “Gastala” The
composition of “Gastala” includes aluminum hydroxide magnesium carbonate gel and magnesium hydroxide. These substances are able to quickly and for a long time neutralize hydrochloric acid in the stomach and maintain normal acidity (pH 3-5). One pill “Gastala” suppresses the effect of almost 21.5 mmol of acid. “Gastal” reduces the effect of bile acids, removes dyspeptic phenomena in the body. The drug stimulates the processes of repair of the gastric mucosa. According to the indications “Gastal” is prescribed in heartburn and dyspeptic conditions, in gastritis with increased acidity of the stomach, in the ulcer of the stomach and duodenum.
Effective substances of “Gastala” after reaction with hydrochloric acid in the stomach are converted into insoluble salts and excreted with feces.
Instructions for the use of “Gastal
” “Gastal” are taken inside, not swallowing the tablet, but sucking it. Adults and children aged twelve years with a body weight of not less than 50 kg are given 1-2 tablets four to six times a day after meals and overnight. You can’t take more than 8 pills a day. “Gastal” takes no more than two weeks. In the case of heartburn, “Gastal” is taken in the same doses, but regardless of food intake. Children between the ages of six and twelve are given half of the said dose.
For patients with renal function impairment, dose adjustment of the drug is not required.
Side effects of “Gastal”
With prolonged intake in large doses of “Gastal” can cause the following symptoms: development hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, hypercalciuria, osteoporosis, osteomalation, hyperaluminemia, hypermagnesemia, encephalopathy, kidney dysfunction. In patients suffering from renal failure, the appearance of thirst, hyporeflexia, lowering blood pressure may be possible. Side effects on the part of the digestive system (nausea, diarrhea or constipation, change in taste sensations) can increase. Some may develop an allergic reaction. If these symptoms appear, it is necessary to stop taking “Gastal”, to carry out symptomatic therapy. Use of “Gastala” during pregnancy is allowed if the therapeutic benefit for the woman is higher than the possible risk for the future child. “Gastal” cannot stand out with the mother’s milk.
Gastal cannot be given to children under the age of six.
Gastal is not prescribed to people suffering from severe renal failure, patients with hypophosphatemia, Alzheimer’s disease, glucoso -$ galactose malabsorption, lactose intolerance or deficiency, with hypersensitivity to magnesium salts, aluminum or other components of “Gastala”. The drug is used with caution in chronic renal failure, as well as in children aged six to twelve years, in people with a body weight less than 50 kg, in the elderly.
