Description and pharmacological action
“Furadonin” is a synthetic drug, antimicrobial agent. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic whose main active substance is the nitrofuran derivative – nitrofurantoin.
Nitrofurantoin has bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects in inflammatory processes of the genitourinary system. It is well excreted from the gastrointestinal tract, completely excreted by the kidneys, also secreted with breast milk, so it is not recommended to be taken during lactation.
Produced “Furadonin” in tablets of 0.05 g and 0.1 g in a package of 20 pieces, as well as in the form of intestinal soluble tablets (this form is provided for children) with a dosage of 0.03 g. 30 pieces per pack.
Indications for use of the drug
“Furadonin” is prescribed in the presence of an infection of the genitourinary system, pyelonephritis, urethritis, pyelitecystitis, inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system systems, as well as in urology to prevent infections during diagnostic studies such as caterization, cystoscopy, and various operational interventions.
Method of use and dose
In order to prevent infectious diseases prescribed 1 (0,05 or 0,1 g) tablet “Furadonina” per day. In the presence of mild infections – half the pill 3 times a day. In case of severe exacerbations, chronic and severe infections of 1 tablet 3-4 times a day. With caution, the drug is prescribed to children aged three. For them, the dosage of the drug is 3 mg per 1 kg of body weight for four receptions per day. The duration of one course of treatment is 7 days. If not enough, treatment can be continued for up to 10 days. With prolonged use of the drug as a maintenance (preventive) therapy, it is necessary to gradually reduce the dose of nitrofurantoin.
Taking “Furadonin” should be in conjunction with prebiotics and foods supporting normal intestinal mycloflora.
The drug should be taken only at the dosage specified in the instruction.
Admission of “Furadonina” can cause a number of adverse actions from the respiratory system, digestive system, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system. For example, it is quite common for patients who use furadonin to complain of chest pain, difficulty breathing, coughing, bronchial asthma attacks in patients with a history of asthma. Also possible are shortness of breath, pulmonary infiltrates, pneumonitis, fibrosis, eosinophilia. Among the frequent adverse symptoms are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain. To avoid nausea, experts advise, to fill “Furadonin” with a lot of water. Or you will have to suffer until the end of the course of treatment.

Sometimes patients while taking the drug may experience headaches, migraines, drowsiness, increased intracranial pressure, various allergic reactions: urticaria, rash, skin itching, Quinke edema, in isolated cases – anaphylactic shock, dermatitis and other side effects. Among them flu-like symptoms, arthralgia, superinfection of the genitourinary tract, provokes the development of which a sineginous stick.
As a rule, specialists involved in the development and research of a particular drug are reinsured, listing in side effects all possible – up to one case per 100 thousand people — the reaction of the body to the active substance of the drug. So accurately predicting whether you will have urticaria, allergic to the medication or not is difficult to predict. Contraindications to the use of the drug
“Furadonin” it is not recommended to prescribe people with pronounced disorders secretive function of the kidneys, hypersensitivity to nitrofurantoine, people suffering from heart failure, chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, porphyria, diabetes mellitus. It is prohibited to take “Furadonin” by pregnant women and during lactation, as it has a serious effect on the microflora of the maternal body, and accordingly on the child. Given the complexity of side actions, do not prescribe the drug and children of the first years of life. “ Furadonin” should be attributed with caution to patients with anemia, electrolyte balance disorder, pronounced renal failure, deficiency in the body of vitamins B group. In this case, the risk of peripheral neuropathy is significantly increased. “Furadonin” treatment should not be prescribed for prostatitis and for purulent paranephritis.
