Description of coriander
Coriander belongs to the umbrella family, it is an annual herbaceous plant whose seeds and leaves are one of the most popular seasonings Asian cuisine, it is also called Chinese parsley. This herb medonos has been used in cooking for more than 5,000 years, it was known in ancient Egypt. Coriander seeds contain up to 1.4% essential oils, vitamins: A, B1, B2, C and PP, as well as iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium and phosphorus salts. They have fatty oils, tannic and nitrogen compounds, starch and sucrose.
Coriander preparations and its seeds are contraindicated in pregnancy. It cannot often be eaten by those suffering from increased blood clotting, thrombosis or thrombophlebitis, blood pressure disorders.
Useful properties of coriander
In the essential oil of coriander are digestion-enhancing substances such as linalool and geraniol. They are the basis of medicines used to treat ulcers, gastritis and other gastrointestinal diseases. From coriander seeds are made extracts, which in pharmacology are used to prepare antiseptic, biliary and pain medications.
Decoctions from pushed seeds are used as an expectorant for bronchitis and inflammation of the lungs, to relieve swelling and lower cholesterol levels in the blood. They are used as rinses for the treatment and healing of wounds in the mouth, they are drunk for diarrhea, anemia, menstrual cycle disorders, coriander decoctions are treated with glists.
To cook the decoction, pour 100g of coriander seeds 500g of water, boil and allow to stir for 20-30 minutes. The decoction can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a day.
To get rid of nervous disorders and suppressed condition, coriander seeds insist on red wine and then strain and drink it 100g thrice per day. This remedy can also be used to treat anemia, as there is a lot of iron in coriander seeds, which when insisted is released into the wine.
Vitamins A and C, which are rich in coriander, are antioxidants, together with phosphorus, they slow down aging processes, preventing macular degradation of age-related changes that are subject to visual apparatus.
