Why does working with dialogues make huge sense when learning a foreign language?
The whole thing is that it is during the dialogue that the learner develops an idea of spoken speech, its peculiarities, the constructions used in it, and its characteristic features.
When two students engage in dialogue, both have a concept of conversation based on the question-answer model.
Common and rudimentary designs along the lines of “Have you been to school today? – Yes, I was” replaced by more complex models – with elements of expressing their own point of view and with elements of discussion.
When working with printed materials or video content that represent dialogue, the student is replenished with a vocabulary, especially if the dialogues are of a domestic nature: for account of them the student learns about phrases, slang and constructs most used in everyday life, which are often not taught in school.
Often even showing a good result students can be brought to a dead end by normal phrases. Many fall into a stupor when they are asked to translate the phrases: “Put the kettle down, please,” or “He’s got his shoelaces untied and his sole torn.”

Of course, the main way to work with dialogues will be to conduct dialogue in real time, but it will be important to “follow” other people’s dialogues – especially when watching videos materials – when it is possible to understand the relationship between the situational component and the vocabulary/expressions that lead the dialogue.
So, there are many websites on the Internet, which present different types of samples from cinema or TV shows, which allow the student to review a specific situation and in interactively suggest a translation option. Such methods not only expand vocabulary, but also improve auditory perception of foreign speech.
So, a very effective way can be called viewing the speeches of political leaders or other politicians and the process of their communication with the press – it gives the opportunity to see the stylistic value of the vocabulary they use.
One of the most effective ways that is designed not only to increase lexical stock, but also to bring pleasure is to watch TV series or foreign language films with Russian or English subtitles. This process is partially interactive: the beholder has the ability to stop the film and look at the meaning of an unfamiliar word in the dictionary, and besides such a process improves the student’s auditory perception .
