The future star of Soviet cinema came to light on November 12, 1935 in a family of musical workers. Parents at that time lived in the famous city of Kharkiv. His father worked for the local Philharmonic as a bayanist and his mother performed as a singer. The girl grew up inquisitive and moveable child, from an early age absorbed the creative atmosphere that surrounded her.
In 1941, when the war broke out, his father was called into the active army, and Lyudmila and her mother remained in the occupied city. It was possible to survive with great difficulty. After the end of the war, Gurchenko continued her studies in high school. She studied well. She actively participated in the reviews of artistic self-activity and attended classes of the drama studio, which operated at the home of the pioneers. After receiving her matriculation certificate, Lyudmila decided to enter the acting faculty of VGIK and left for Moscow. Entrance examinations from Kharkiv passed from the first time.
Already in her student years Gurchenko declared herself as an actress and singer. In the diploma performance “Keto and Kote”, she played one of the lead roles and sang songs according to the script. The first success came to the actress in 1956, following the release on screens of the cult comedy “Carnival Night”.
