Jeremy Irwin: biography, creativity, career, personal life

A brief biography

of

Jeremy William Fredrick Smith, better known to viewers as Jeremy Irwin, came to light on June 18, 1990 in a small settlement called Hamlingay, Cambridgeshire, England. The story of choosing a stage name involves the actor’s grandfather Irwin Smith, whom Jeremy loved and respected greatly. Therefore, when it became necessary to choose a pseudonym, he stopped at his grandfather’s name, which began to be used as his surname.

What concerns the actor’s parents, it is known from various sources that his father Chris Smith worked as an engineer. And Bridget Smith’s mother was involved in politics. She was a Liberal Democrat party councillor on South Cambridgeshire District Council.

Jeremy is not the only child in the family. He became Chris and Bridget’s firstborn, and later his younger brothers Lawrence and Toby were born. Toby is also keen on acting and, along with his older brother, managed to star in Mike Newell’s film “High Hopes”.

However, as a child, Jeremy Irwin showed little interest in acting. Things changed dramatically when the youngster turned sixteen. One of his teachers at Bedford Modern School suggested he perform a small role in a theatre production. Performing on stage so inspired the young man that he became seriously carried away by theatre. And after graduating from high school he started attending the National Youth Theatre to improve his acting skills.

Later he took a one-year course training at one of the best British drama schools The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After completing his acting course, Jeremy Irwin attended various castings for nearly two years and tried to get the role. That period was not easy for him. At times Jeremy wanted to give up his profession as an actor and go to his father’s company, where he could help his family and work quietly. But luck smiled at the young man, and he got the title role in one of Steven Spielberg’s paintings.

Career and creativity

Jeremy Irwin’s acting debut came in 2009, when he got the minor role of Luke in the television series “Life Bites”. He appeared in twelve episodes of this miniseries film, which was a real success for the aspiring actor. He also appeared as part of the “Royal Shakespeare Company” and even played several key roles in various productions including “Dunsinane”. However, Jeremy was gravitated by the fact that he is not being implemented as a film actor.

The lack of offers to star in films and TV projects made him think about changing his profession. But, unexpectedly, he got the lead role of Albert Narracott in Steven Spielberg’s adventure drama “The Battle Horse.” This event changed Irwin’s life. The film was liked by audiences and was a huge commercial success. Jeremy Irvine has received universal recognition and love of fans.

In 2012, he played the protagonist Adam in Ol Parker’s melodrama “Now is the Time”. His set partner was acclaimed American actress and photographic model Dakota Fanning. The picture received good reviews from critics and showed good fees.

However, in the same year Jeremy Irvine appeared in Mike Newell’s drama “High Hopes”, the plot of which is based on the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens. He played one of the film’s key characters – an orphan named Pip. The role was another breakthrough in Jeremy’s career after his performance in the film “Battle Horse”. And despite reasonably modest box office fees, the picture received rave reviews from film critics and allowed Irwin to re-assert himself as a talented actor.

In 2013 he performed in creative alliance with Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth in Jonathan Teplicki’s dramatic story “Retribution.” The actor then became a main character twice in films such as “A Night in Old Mexico” and “A Game of Survival”. Each of these projects received good reviews from critics and was a commercial success.

Between 2015 and 2018, Jeremy Irwin managed to star in such pictures as “Fallen”, “Fantastic Love and Where to Find It”, “Mind Games”, “Mamma Mia! 2″, “The Billionaires Club” and others.

In 2019, two films featuring him were presented at once, among them “Treadstone” and “Desperate Move”. And the near future will feature projects such as “Cognition” and “The Guinea Pig Club,” where Irvine will star in the lead roles.

Family and Personal Life

Successful and talented actor Jeremy Irwin prefers not to advertise his personal life. However, it is known that in 2009 he had a romantic relationship with British actress Amy Ren. The young men had been in a relationship for about two years, after which they separated.
