In the circle of close and distant relatives of the Hopkins family, there have never been people involved in art or literature. Nothing foreshadowed such a development this time when Boy Tony came to light. The future actor was born on December 31, 1937 into a baker’s family. The father had a flashy temper and raised his son in strict rules. The situation was complicated by the fact that the child suffered from dyslexia. Disorder of this kind hinders the development of reading and writing skills. At the same time, there is no impact on learning abilities.
For Anthony in his childhood years, finding contact with peers was the hardest part. At school, he literally served his time. But at home in a free environment he was engaged in drawing and music. Outside the walls of the school, Hopkins attended drama studio classes. And was considered one of the best and most able students here. In 1955, the young man overcame the entrance trials and was granted student status at the Welsh Royal College of Music and Drama. After graduation, the certified actor was called into the ranks of the armed forces.
After serving as well, Hopkins moved to London and became a student of the Royal Academy dramatic art. After graduating from the academy, he was accepted into a company of a small repertory theatre. It is not until five years later, in 1965, that Anthony gains an actor’s place on the stage of the Royal National Theatre. In parallel with his work in theatre, he does not give up occasional film roles. In the painting “Lion in Winter”, Hopkins played the first significant role on screen. Critics and audiences noticed the talented performer. Two years later, he was invited to Hollywood.
Recognition and universal fame came to Hopkins on American soil after the release of a film called “The Silence of the Lambs” on screens. For his performance of the lead role, the actor received his first Oscar. It was in this picture that the actor appeared to have an enigmatic grin and a still, pervading interlocutor gaze. Many viewers freaked out scenes with the movie’s hero and could only watch movies along with loved ones. Anthony did not relax after the success and did not fall into euphoria. He continued to film a lot and thoughtfully. Hopkins works brilliantly in the paintings “Hannibal” and “Red Dragon”.
Recognition and personal life
For his great contribution to the development of film arts, Hopkins is dedicated to knighthoods and awarded the Order of Commander of the British Empire. For his involvement in various film projects, he was awarded with Academy Awards, Golden Globe, Emmy Awards.
Hopkins’ personal life didn’t stack up very smoothly. He married for the first time in 1966. The couple had a daughter, but six years later the family broke up. The second marriage lasted from 1973 until 2002. Two years later, Anthony met Stella Arroyave, a Colombian actress. They have lived under the same roof ever since. They grew up a daughter, Tara.
