In 1969 he met his future wife – Olga Vasilyevna Bulgakova. In the same year, a close-knit family of artists was established. In 1972 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute named after M. IN. Surikova.
In 1978 the future artist Natalia Sitnikova was born.

Family and artistic trio
Family life of Alexander, Olga and Natalia is filled with painting. All communication twists around paintings, easels, artistic ideas and creations. Life is only occasionally wedged into conversations about art. Each of them in painting speaks their own language, but there is a kind of community that allows them not to harass each other either in life or in creativity. They respect in each other individuality and self-sufficiency.
Their friends and acquaintances say that a friendlier family is hard to find and that it’s time to make films about them.
Painting lives so naturally and organically in their family that they do not present themselves in any other way. Wife and daughter glee say they don’t see another scenario of their lives. They have entered art so deeply that it is no longer possible to get out of there. Natalia writes paintings in the style of abstractionism.
Paintings of the period 1963-1980 by
A. Sitnikov began creating in the mid-70s. Images of people and beasts came out from under the brush. For some, they are simple, unsettling and gloomy, and do not provoke optimism. To others, they are mischievous and hooligan, perceived as a protest, but with a hint of the existence of the beautiful. This is the spirit of the time invested in these works of Alexander. Later, bright colors appear in the paintings, mythology comes to the scene of life: red and white bulls. They are symbolic and pass through many compositions.
In many paintings Sitnikov kind of foreboding the impending tragedy of Soviet times and prophesying a new future for the fate of Russia. And it gives him the courage to live to see, feel, write and present something more beautiful and interesting to the world.
Paintings of the period 1980-2000
period of the late 1980s is filled with an alarming expectation of change.$ Numbers are drawn in the paintings, geometry is denoted, unusual colors are added. From the paintings comes mercy and humanity. The series “Demos. Blind-Deaf-Mute.” The characters on the canvases came from nowhere and go nowhere. They are like the proimages of all mankind wandering in the space of the universe. From the figures comes the tragedy of loneliness and silent grief.
A. Sitnikov knows how to amaze. His fantasy is not limited to one method, style, method of writing. It often goes back to different eras. Draws a parallel with the oldest history and mythology. The artist has a special relationship with her. With the help of myths, he tries to talk about what happens at the time and in the space he is in at the time of writing the painting. Paintings by A. Sitnikov bear some barely catch hint of social events in the political, economic, social sphere.
A. Sitnikov peeks into history with awe. He cares about the fates of many people. Dmitry Shostakovich is dedicated to a series of paintings “Concerto”. The composer’s work has withstood many tests. In the 1950s he was accused of “reptiles before the West” and stripped of all ranks and honours. Shostakovich was little happy in his personal life. Survived several family tragedies. He died of a serious illness. Looking at paintings dedicated to the composer, the sophisticated viewer can see a lot of interesting things.
Paintings of the period 2000-2019 With the
advent of a new century at A. Sitnikov is born a series of paintings “Native Speech”. In it is going all the artist’s experience. It mixes many styles and techniques, shows the connection of literature, philosophy and history. Some compositions are relegated to the Soviet past, but immediately return to reality. It uses many pictogram symbols, numbers, and figures. The paintings again amaze and wake up fantasy. Many works from this cycle flaunt alongside paintings of wife and daughter.

Joint exhibitions on the one hand show the commonality of the Sitnikov family’s worldview. On the other – emphasize individuality and self-sufficiency of everyone.
In the work of the Sitnikov family there is a deep respect for each other’s works. This was beautifully noted by Alexander Yakimovich, an art historian at the exhibition in 2012 at the gallery in Chistye Prudy. He spoke creative compliments to Olga Bulgakova. I wonder how she knows how to convey terrible impressions, illuminating them with the light of biblical mythology. How intelligent and chivalrous the husband looks next to her. As a daughter Natalia stands by dignity and independently, not inferior in skill to either mother or father.
Time has passed since the mid-70s. Much has changed, but the thoughts of A. Sitnikova in the creation of paintings. They are still aimed at making life change for the better, so that in society the main person is.
