Hard drive what system should be in laptop: SSD or HDD?

You will need
  • Laptop

HDD – the oldest of the three specified options. The data here is stored on magnetic plates. They are read by special heads. Hence the main drawback – the relatively low speed of reading and writing data. To read a file from different sections of the disk, the heads are forced to move around and spend time.
However, the plus is obvious too – the minimum cost of 1 MB of information. You can afford a 500GB drive without spending much.

SSD – solid state disk. Essentially a big flash drive. There are no moving parts in it, and therefore the reading speed is limited only by the speed of memory chips installed on it. The main plus is fast downloading Windows and “heavy” apps like Adobe Photoshop. The main plus in terms of the laptop is ready to work 2 seconds after opening the lid!
Minus is high cost. In the consumer market, even models with a 256GB drive are rare. Today, this is the limit for the price range of 1000-1500 USD.

SSD+HDD is a tandem of small SSD, for example at 24GB, and large HDD. Plus – in Windows 8.1, the laptop wakes up at times faster than the usual HDD fellow. Another fat plus – you can afford a big drive, size 500GB and up.
Cons inherit from HDD – low, compared to SSD, read and write speed.
