Compost pit device
The compost pit device depends largely on the purposes with which it is created. If you just have nowhere to stack organic garbage, and after a couple or three years you want to get the most valuable fertilizer for plants, then the pit can be made according to the simplest scheme.
To do this, cut a hole half a meter deep and the same width. Ease the bottom with weeds, plant residues and dry foliage. Food waste can be dumped in a pit and covered with prepared dry foliage. In this case you do not risk breeding on the vegetable garden of flies, warn the formation of an unpleasant smell.
Choose a place to organize the pit that will not be caught in the eye.
Usefulness of compost pit
Useful properties of compost are quite large. All nutrients are not in the form of organic soluble salts, but in a kind of compound with organic matter. They do not wash in watering and rain into deep layers of soil, always remain in the upper layer of the earth, where the roots of plants are concentrated. Compost is enriched with humus and essential trace elements, for earth it is a beautiful mulch that suppresses weed growth and preserves moisture. The special dignity of the compost pit is the convenience of production.
Remember that the compost pit is not a disorderly waste dump, but a kind of structure that must be made according to strict rules.
Compost pit composition The
compost can go to the following household waste: raw fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee and cereals; leftover food; $ straw and hay; meat waste; crushed wood; ash; fresh and overhauled manure of agricultural herbivores; natural paper in shredded form.
It also includes garden waste: shredded branches, bark, wood and roots; thin twigs after images of shrubs and trees; grass beveled from the lawn; young weeds; freshwater or seaweed; last year’s semi-perverted leaves; other organic waste.
It is very important to correctly alternate products delivered to the compost pit. The main principle is that green layers (soft and wet) need to alternate with browns (hard and dry). On a vegetable or fruit layer, lay a layer of shredded paper, then a small layer of grass, then a layer of annual and last year’s leaves.
Can’t be folded into a compost pit: plastic bottles and iron cans; hard and large meat bones; embers; waste after application of herbicides, perennial and flowering rhizome weeds; dry leaves of the current year; pest and disease-affected waste.
